FAULTS The standard says; Any departure from the foregoing points (standard) should be considered a fault and the seriousness with wich the fault should bne regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog.
We interpret this to mean that if a fault is appearing in the breed more regularly than desired and is forgiven and accepted, it becomes the norm, the whole dog changes. We have seen this in many breeds, you only have to look at the 19th century dogs in some breeds to see where fashion can take us. We must guard the Deerhound well and observe and follow our standard.
